Nintendo Platinum Points Haul

A image of me holding up a poster from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Read Time:2 Minute, 13 Second

Recently, I went on the Nintendo website and had a bit of a spending spree. I did so to use up all the Nintendo Platinum Points I’ve amassed over the last few weeks, months, and years. They do all eventually expire, so I didn’t want to lose out. In total, I ordered three rewards, all of which came in 2 parcels. Interestingly, 1 of those rewards came with 3 different items, but I’ll get into that later.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe Mousepad

As mousepads go, I can’t think of having anything cuter than this pink round guy on my desk. Doesn’t mean it’s good quality though. The surface on which the mouse should rest feels extremely tacky. I’m not sure if I’m used to higher-quality fabric mousepads but this one just really isn’t great. The artwork is much more faded than what is shown on the website too. It won’t be replacing my current mousepad for sure. At the very least, I’ll be able to stick it to my wall or something with some Blu-Tac.

Game Boy Poster Set

This is the reward I mentioned before that had multiple items in it. I am a big fan of Game Boy games, so having three massive awesome posters sent to me for essentially free was great. Each one is a high-quality print and so much bigger than I expected them to be. The games represented are Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Metroid 2: Return of Samus. All incredibly influential games and I am beyond happy to have these. Definitely going to be properly mounting them in frames at some point.

Splatoon x The Legend of Zelda Splatfest Keychain (Wisdom)

My search for a sweet keyring has finally ended. The “cheapest” of the free items on this list, I love the blue Wisdom-themed acrylic design. It looks great alongside my keys. I’m not a huge of the Splatoon franchise, but the design of this keychain is “off the hook”. Hahah. it’s bold and very fun to look at. The combination of elements of both franchises is very cool.

In total, I spent 1150 Platinum Points, which isn’t bad for a keyring, a mousepad and 3 posters. The worst thing I received was definitely the Mousepad. I probably could have spent my points on something much better. Oh well. These things were essentially free so I can only realistically complain about them a little bit. I think the Nintendo Platinum Points scheme is actually really good, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for more things to get.
